“I started my journey after college as an illustrator with advertising agencies, children’s publications and magazines in 1989 . Simultaneously I started painting my miniatures and my first exhibition was sponcered by Artkonsult, New Delhi in 1995.My shift to Kolkata in 1998 resulted in a total shift to a full time artist where I started experimenting with various mediums to arrive at my style. My focus since 2010 began in figurative art in contemporary style.I am a narrative artist who weaves a story in series and my interest is to document social ,cultural and current issues of India be it the life and livelihood of Talsari fishermen, Naga Sadhus or Migrant Workers in peril during Covid 19 pandemic 2019- 2020.
My medium is Acrylic on canvas and mixed media on paper. I have held exhibitions in cities of India and also participated in an Art Residency in Manchester United Kingdom in 2011 and held an open Studio in Artfunkl, Manchester UK. I am fortunate that my 3 decades of work have been appreciated by Art critics and connoisseurs of art alike. My current solo, ” Odyssey of the Last One Decade 2011-2022 “was held in February ’23 curated by Mr. Prasanta Daw showcasing more than 60 works of my 10 years of journey in India where my sketches during my travels and canvases portray figure in nature.
