Born in 1951, Ravindra Verma belongs to a family of artists. His Father Shree Kishan Verma was a traditional artist specialized in portraiture and fresco painting. He completed graduation in sculpture from the College of Arts, New Delhi in 1979 under the able guidance of Prof. Dhanraj Bhagat and Prof. Biman B. Das, renowned sculptor in India.
Simultaneously, he also practiced painting under Mr. Rameshwer Broota at Triveni Kala Sangam. He did his first solo exhibition in 1980 at Triveni Gallary and participated in the important group shows at the same time. His work got selected in Lalit Kala Academy’s national exhibition in 1980, 1981 and 1982. He also exhibited in AIFACS, Sahitya Kala Parishad and participated in a number of shows in India and Abroad.
Awards and Other Achievements: Delhi stat’s award in the painting by Sahitya Kala Parishad in 1981 & 1983, Awarded scholarship by the Italian govt. to study art and language in Italy 1984, Mayor’s Merit Certificate for the mural painting at MUGANO (pg), Italy, Order of the star of Italian solidarity knighthood, conferred by the president of Italy republic , Prof. B.C. Sanyal award by the college of art, Delhi, Invited by A.A.F.I to participate and hold an Art workshop at MONTE’BELIARD, FRANCE, 1996, Invited in Bangkok. Under the exchange programme of art teaching 1988., Invited by Nehru centre of India Embassy in JAKARTA, INDONESIA 2009, Invited in SOFIA (BULGARIA) by INDIAN EMBASSY fo lecture on Indian Art at Sofia University and at FRIENDS OF INDIA CLUB 2009, Curated and presented an exhibition of Contemporary art in Padova, Italy at the initiative of “Paolocapo villa” and hosted by the mayor of Padova., Curated and presented an exhibition of Contemporary Indian art (mask) at the initiative of the Culture Dept. of Perugia Itlay and I.C.C.R Delhi, Presented an exhibition of art org. by Nrityanjali Academy of Assam and Nehru Centre, Embassy of India in Bhutan, Travelled and studied extensively in Europe, the USA and South East Asia under various exchange programmes, Works are in the collection of important orgs. and individuals in India and abroad.
