Indian contemporary artist Meenu Verma born in October 1986, grew up in a household, always buzzing with the sounds of hammering a chisel and the swish of brush on canvas. No wonder she started showing great affinity towards paint and brush since her early childhood. Growing up with Art in the family, the artist in Madhumita started yearning to explore possibilities in mediums where she could experiment with third-dimensional forms. The urge to create images, which are rooted and tangible led her to the field of sculpture and she joined the College of Arts, Delhi. She completed her graduation from the College of Art Delhi in 2008, under the able guidance of Prof. Biman Bihari Das, a renowned sculptor ( Padma Shree awardee), and Prof. Brij Mohan, a renowned sculptor. She completed her B.F.A sculpture 2013 and M.F.A in 2015. Meenu Verma was a gold medalist in the 2013 batch College of Arts. After her master’s she joined FMG College as a Professor of History of art and aesthetics under the head of Prof. Jai Zharotya (renowned printmaker and artist).
Artist Meenu Verma’s work was part of many national and international level group shows, and she participated in more than 30 art exhibitions including “Wings for Change” at American Center Delhi 2017, “Indian Contemporaries” at Nizhny Novgorod, Russia 2017, “HUES” at American Center Delhi, December 2017, “Space & Space, etc.” Modern Art Gallery, Bhubaneswar Orissa 2019, Group Show in “National Kala Mela” in Rabindra Bhawan, Delhi 2020, Group show “ Abhivyakti” at Kala Dham, Greater Noida 2014- 1, ALL INDIA WOMEN ARTISTS contemporary art exhibition, Gandhi Bhawan, Punjab University Chandigarh, March 2017, Group show “Desi Canvas” at Drifting Canvas, Delhi 2017, Group show” dawn first light” at Kala Sort Art Gallery, Aliganj, Lucknow(UP) January 2018 Group show “Three sisters” at First International Kala Mela, IGNCA February 2018
She won many national and international awards such as “The Michelangelo Award” for outstanding artwork exhibited at Mindscape, the International online art exhibition 2022, the International Women Artists Achievers Awards, 2022, the Certificate of Honor “Best 100 Artworks, the International online art competition 2018. Her works are in the collection of many private and government organizations including, FMG College, Greater Noida, and Times of India.
