Indian contemporary artist Madhumita Verma born in July 1980, grew up in a household, always buzzing with the sounds of hammering a chisel and the swish of brush on canvas. No wonder she started showing great affinity towards paint and brush since her early childhood. Growing up with Art in the family, the artist in Madhumita started yearning to explore possibilities in mediums where she could experiment in third-dimensional forms. The urge to create images, which are rooted and tangible led her to the field of sculpture and she joined the College of Arts, Delhi. She completed her graduation from the College of Art Delhi in 2002.
Simultaneously, she was working on a large-size Monumental Sculpture selected by Delhi Development Authority in 2002, which is installed under Wazirpur Depot. Flyover, Delhi.
She has created sculptures for govt. and private organizations. Her works were got selected for national and international level art exhibitions and participated in more than 30 art exhibitions including “Woman of India” at Nehru Museum, Delhi, 2001, “Wings for Change” at American Center Delhi 2017, “Indian Contemporaries” at Nizhny Novgorod, Russia 2017, “HUES” at American Center Delhi, December 2017, “Abhivyakti” Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, 2018, “Space & Space, etc.” Modern Art Gallery, Bhuwneshwer Orissa 2019, “Changing Narratives” in IGNCA, Delhi 2020, Group Show in “National Kala Mela” in Rabindra Bhawan, Delhi 2020, Group show “First International Online show for women artist”, by Kala Chhavi, 2021, Online International show” Blessings” by positive art, 2021, Online art exhibition in “India Art Festival”, 2021.Madhumita completed her Master in History of Art from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 2008. She won Prafulla Dhanukar sculpture awards for the state, received a certificate of honor for the best 36 international online sculptures, and an honor in 100 International Eminent Artist contests, Bhartiy Kala Samman, from Indian art fare, Michelangelo award from Mindscape an International online exhibition for excellent artwork.”
