My name is Arunima Kapoor and I am an artist by profession. Born and brought up in New Delhi, I have completed my ‘BFA’ from College of Arts, New Delhi, M.A in ‘Drawing & Painting’ from Jiwaji University, Gwalior and M.A in ‘Art History’ from National Museum, New Delhi. In addition I have also completed an ‘Animation Course’ from MAAC, New Delhi.
For me art is a tool to express inner feelings and experiences both regarding to my situation and surroundings. It is a constant spiritual quest from worldly to within.
My home- my place of dwelling has always been a source of inspiration for me. With a backyard full of vast landscape encompassing variety of flora and fauna, and a house full with assortment of flowers and plants, my affinity towards nature is apparent in my works.
My works are both symbolic and expressionistic in nature, aesthetically elevating and inevitably sublime. I apply semi realistic sometimes abstract forms, symbols, motives as well as colours for their emotive values. These forms and images directly or metaphorically reflect the welled up emotions and sentiments in me and help me to portray my myriad thoughts onto the canvas. Females in my paintings are shown in a deep meditation and are often depicted as ‘Prakriti’, symbol of fertility and essence of life. Lotus, fishes, birds etc. are use both for their symbolic as well as aesthetic values.
I have participated in many exhibitions both nationally and internationally and have attended many Art Camps and workshops.
