I am Lata Kohli Gomes, belonging to the batch of 1990. It happened so, after I got admission in Miranda College (D.U) opted Geography Honours, I got to know that I topped the entrance exam ( Painting Specialisation) in College of Art. So I left Miranda the same day and joined the College of my dreams as Art is my passion. I would like to mention, some names, who, gave me the opportunity to shape up my career, those are – Mr. O.P. Sharma (Principal), Mr. Dhiraj Chaudhary (Head of Foundation), Mr. M. Vijay Mohan (Painting Department Head), Mr. Rajesh Mehra, Mr. Ganeshi Lal Kaim, Ms. Anupam Sood, Mr Jai Zharotia, Mr.C.L. Meena, Ms. Arpita Singh , Ms. Kanchan Chander. I am also grateful to Late Mr. Jagdish Dey, Mr. Bisht, Late Mr. Swapan Bishwas and Mr. Bilash Bose for their exemplary guidance during my foundation year. I am and will remain grateful to all of them.
Presently, I am working as a Lecturer ( Fine Art),serving the Department of Education, (Delhi Administration).
I had participated in a Women’s group Show – “Kriti”, as soon as I was out of my college. It was a successful one. My paintings were well appreciated. But due to some personal reasons, I was unable to paint professionally. After a few years I had few more opportunities to showcase my works in the exhibitions, organised by the Delhi Art Teachers Association at Lalit Kala Academy.
My recent Work on International Women’s Day was exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern Art (2021) Another Exhibition from District East, Education Department, Delhi Administration is on the cards for Art Teachers and students in November this year and I am also going to be a part of it. Looking forward to participating in our first College mates exhibition 2023. This will be a memorable experience to participate with our Senior as well as Junior collegemates.
